Xiaomi Poco F1 First Look
Poco is a brand new sub-brand created by Xiaomi poco f1 to cater to the enthusiast crowd. Xiaomi’s Mi series hasn’t made as much of an impact in India as the Redmi series, and as a result, we have not seen new Mi models launching here after the Xiaomi Mi 5. With the new Poco brand, Xiaomi is looking to start over with a blank slate, without being burdened by the expectations people have from its other products. The F1 is the first phone from Poco, and it seems to have the essence of a typical Xiaomi phone. It has a powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 to be precise, plus a Poco themed version of MIUI, and a very aggressive price. With OnePlus and Asuscashing in on the market for mid-range flagships, the Poco F1 by Xiaomi seems to be its answer for that particular segment.
Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, launched the Xiaomi Poco F1 in India , under their new sub-brand Poco which stands for ‘a little’. The Flipkart-exclusive smartphone is the most affordable smartphone to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and is a premium addition to the portfolio of parent Xiaomi, known mostly for its budget and mid-range smartphones.
In a recent media interaction, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain had said that the company was working on a premium smartphone, which would not be from the company’s existing portfolio, but a new offering designed specifically for Indian consumers. The Poco F1 launched today, has premium looks, features and specifications while the price starts from Rs 20,999 and one can get a first sale offer of Rs 1000 instant cashback if bought through HDFC Bank credit or debit card.
“As a small outfit within Xiaomi, Poco has the freedom to start from scratch, zeroing in on the product choices and technologies that matter. The brand focusses on delivering performance and innovation, which we believe will resonate with tech enthusiasts,” Jai Mani, Head of Product at Poco Global, said.
Apart from the flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset, the Poco F1 sports a 5.99-inch fullHD+ notch display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The notch houses an infrared face-unlock feature as well. The Pocophone f1 doesn’t really fall into any existing category of smartphone. to call it a budget device, wouldn’t be doing its power any justice and to call it a flagship, would be unfair considering how affordable it is. the Pocophone f1 is fast, Due the Snapdragon 845, a liquid cooling system and six or eight gigabytes of RAM, it has the fluidity of the Galaxy S9 or the Huawei P20 pro. As this is an 8 Series chip, you also get maximum graphics performance so with games like PUBG and Dark Knight Rises runs smoothly. The Adreno GPU brings in new need of power in the device so even the base model of the Pocophone f1 will be able to push those games on maximum settings smoothly. This amount of power has never been seen before at 300 euros or Rs 21,500. to give you context, it competes mainly with smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 660 or lower which are according to AnTuTu Benchmark half as capable. you’re actually getting even more bang for your buck than the OnePlus 6 when it comes to performance.
